    This position will be responsible for senior level management and maintenance of the company’s LAN/WAN environment and computer systems, including participation in and oversight of daily upkeep and administration. Other duties include design, planning, and implementation of new systems and supervision and mentoring of desktop support technicians and network administrators.

    Responsibilities

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Implement and maintain all network, security, and computer systems to meet the organization’s current and future requirements. Implement and maintain all network, security, and computer systems to meet the organization’s current and future requirements.
    • Daily administration and oversight of the network and computer systems,  including creation, deletion, and maintenance of user accounts, mailboxes, distribution lists, groups and all associated security parameters.
    • Responsible for the overall design, management, maintenance, and architecture of all networking equipment, including servers, switches, hubs, routers, firewalls as well as Storage Area Network and Network Attached Storage systems.
    • Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve network and system problems, performance issues, and computer resource allocation. Thoroughly document all resolution activity in the trouble ticket system. 
    • Support mobile technologies including cellular phones, tablets, and wireless networking devices.
    • Professionally represent the Infrastructure team as a technical consultant on projects. Maintain as necessary project plans and documentation of all system builds and modifications.
    • Research, identify, and evaluate new products and services within the IT field. Recommend purchases consistent with organization needs.
    • Provide technical assistance, supervision and mentoring to technical team members to increase skill sets and understanding of data, systems, and architectural design.
    • Interact and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, distributors, and contract consultants.
    • Develop and provide reports on network performance and utilization to management.
    • Maintain a good working knowledge of the current industry standard desktop operating systems and major applications:  examples include Microsoft Office, Exchange and SharePoint.
    • Develop and document corporate policies and procedures as related to network, system, and device use and security.
    • Responsible for managing the companies’ backup environment, to include the creation of backup jobs, deployment of backup clients, media rotation, and restores.
    • Provide second level service desk support. This requires resolution of user and network issues beyond the first level service desk expertise or security capabilities.
    • Willing to travel 10-15% of the time.
    • Requires some after-hours support to include weekend work: Weekly rotation for 7x24 on-call support to perform maintenance on production systems, devices, and equipment, and weekly rotation of monitoring production processes.
    • Perform other job-related duties as required and assigned.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Demonstrated experience in repair and/or diagnosis of server hardware, desktops, laptops and peripherals.
    • Familiar with industry concepts, practices, and procedures including solid subject matter knowledge and advanced technical understanding of PC hardware and software, Microsoft LAN technology, TCP/IP, RDP, VPN, Internet access, network directory services, file systems and print services.
    • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
    • Possess a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
    • Take ownership of issues. Exercise judgment and discretion within established policies and procedures.
    • Can work independently with general supervision; work checked largely for progress against completion of assignments.
    • Must have excellent communications, interpersonal, supervisory and professional skills.
    • Proficiency in VISIO highly desirable.

     

    EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Requires a Bachelor's degree and 7 years of experience, or at least 10 years of experience in the field and familiarity with a broad variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • MCSE certification highly desirable.
